Clorinda Lozano Obituary

Clorinda Quiroz Lozano died in her home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at the age of 70 of cancer. Clorinda was born February 3, 1951, in Flagstaff, Arizona, the ninth of 10 children. As with her passing, she was born at home, a fact she was very proud of throughout her life.

Clorinda opened her first barber shop, Perfect Cuts for Men, in Phoenix in 1986. She later opened a branch on Leroux Street in downtown Flagstaff. She was known as Flagstaff's hometown barber. Her many regular customers considered her to be the best in Arizona.

Clorinda was involved in local politics, a strong advocate and lobbyist for various issues. Wherever she lived, she became involved in her community; fearlessly championed equality, equity and inclusivity.

Clorinda was the founder of Flagstaff Pioneers, which later became Nuestras Raices, one of her fondest accomplishments. She was involved with several local and national causes and organizations, such as the naming of Sinagua High School, Mother's Against Gangs, Arizona's children's bill of rights and LULAC, among many others.

She graduated from Phoenix College with two certificates and an associate degree in Family Resources and established BLOSSOM, LLC, a life-skills coaching organization that assist victims of trauma, with her daughters. Clorinda supported and encouraged single parents to pursue higher education.

Clorinda was a loving wife, mother and nana that will be fondly remembered for her love of life, dancing, people, a passion for the outdoor adventures with her husband, and visiting/laughing with her family. She was quick to begin a friendship anywhere she would go, she knew no stranger.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ruben Lozano; loving daughters Cecilia Quiroz and Desiree (Anthony Sr.) Howard; stepson Adam Lozano; grandchildren Kawika, Fernando Jr., Anissa, Briana, Arielle, Anthony Jr., Xavier and Alivia; siblings Victor, Johnny, Lydia (Frank) Anaya and Theresa (Frank) Benavidez; and four sisters-in-law.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Liboria Quiroz; son Fernando Armijo Sr; sisters Yolanda Portillo, Irene Martinez and Jennie Wahl; brothers Henry Sr. and Richard Quiroz.

Clorinda's life will be celebrated Wednesday, April 7, at San Francisco de Asis Parish, 1600 E. Route 66 Flagstaff, AZ, with a rosary at 10:00 a.m., a mass at 10:30 a.m. and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
