Dixie Marlene Stanger
1940 - 2021

Dixie Marlene Richards was born August 1, 1940, to Wayne and Edna Stanger in Ogden, UT. She was raised by her Aunt Louise and Uncle Harold Linnell of Bakersfield, CA, for the first 8 years of her life and always spoke of those years with fondness. After WWII ended, she returned to her family in Odgen, UT, ultimately graduating from Ben Lomond High School.

Dixie married Thomas Dee Richards on May 10, 1961, in Preston, Idaho, making their home in Flagstaff, AZ, a few years later. Dixie loved to quilt and do crafts, winning many ribbons at county fairs for her cooking and craft creations, but her greatest passion and skill was in genealogy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served many through this organization.

Dixie passed on July 23, 2021, in Flagstaff, Arizona. She is survived by her brother, Bob Stanger (Sun City, AZ); sister, Patsy Smedley (Farr West, UT); son, Thomas (Roshan) Richards (Pleasant Grove, UT); daughters, Carrie Richards (Mattoon, IL), Susie (Robert) Lashua (Prescott, AZ), and Deborah Richards (Flagstaff, AZ); 10 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Dixie's wishes were to have a private family service. The family requests donations be made to the Olivia White Hospice House in lieu of flowers.
