Albert Root Obituary

Albert "Roy" Root was born in Sanger, California, on February 4, 1940, to Raymond and Neva Root. He graduated from Sanger High and attended Reedley College. Albert served his country stateside in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He moved to Buttonwillow in the 1960's, and eventually moved to Shafter. Roy married Deanna Rodriguez-Williams in Las Vegas on May 10, 1971. He was the Substation Construction Foreman for P G & E for 30 years. Roy was very well-known in the Shafter community; giving not only his time but of himself. He was a lifelong member of the Lions Club, and a past director of the Shafter Chamber of Commerce. He was always involved in various Shafter organizations, organizing, and volunteering his time and talents. He enjoyed volunteering his time and energy not only to Shafter organizations, but also organizations in Mexico. He loved to travel around Mexico; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Roy was well known for his "Menudo". Roy was a patient, warm and loving father. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Neva Root; sister, Jacqueline Guinan. He is survived by his loving wife, Deanna; brother, Raymond Root; sisters, Gloria Cates and Geraldine Lamotte; sons, Earl Root and wife, Laurie, Jeff Root and wife, Carrie; daughter, Brandi Huestis and husband, Adam; grandchildren, Gloria Marisol Huestis, Dante, Andre, Jullian, Kyli and Keira Williams. An evening service will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at 6 p.m., for Albert "Roy" Root, age 66, of Shafter, who passed away May 20, 2007, in Shafter. A graveside service will be directed by Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at 11a.m., a Shafter Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, from 2 to 8p.m. Please sign Albert's guest book at www.goldenvalleymemorialcare.com. Sorry Deanna to here about the passing of Roy he was so helpfull with the chamber when i was president there was never no job that Roy could not do, he was a great friend to me as well as to the City of Shafter,god bless you and your family at this time.
