A Rosary and viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. Both services are to be held at San Clemente Mission located at 1305 Water Street, Bakersfield, CA. The interment will be immediately following the Mass at Greenlawn Cemetery on River Blvd. for Alice Joyce Manning, 70, who died April 17, 2004.
Preceding her in death are her sisters, Flora Swan, Lillian Champion, Norma Gillespie and Charlene Poore, her father, Hugh Carlin, and her stepfather, Elzia Snowden. Alice is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, George Manning; son, Ted Manning and wife, Susan; daughter, Erin Schutte and husband, John; grandsons, Nicholas Manning, Chad Manning, Michael Manning; granddaughters, Erika McKamie and Kaitlyn Manning; great-grandchildren, Victoria May, Brenden May, and Garett McKamie; her mother, Flora Snowden; sister, Elsie Metzler and husband, Tom. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She is also survived by her dearest friends for 30 years, Mary Pedersen and Ione Rardin.
The pallbearers will be her nephews, Darryl Allbee, David Champion, Bryan Champion, Joseph Romero, Melvin Romero and David Romero.
A special thank you to Sonia and Scott McClure and their children, Michael, Sean and Ryan for their care, support and generosity to Alice over the past few years. To Dr. Tommie Lee, who has been a friend as well as doctor, thank you for being there. To the night nurse Linda and the day nurses Jason, Terri and Valeria, thank you for your support and compassion to Alice and to the family during this extremely difficult time.
