Bakersfield – Arturo M. Gonzalez, aged 72, passed away on January 7, 2025, in Bakersfield, CA. Born on May 26, 1952, Arturo lived a life marked by his Faith and Trust in God, his one of a kind and second to none sense of humor, kindness, and generosity, deeply cherished by his family and all who knew him.
Arturo very proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, where he distinguished himself as an expert marksman with the M-16. His military service was a significant chapter in his life, showcasing his dedication and skill.
Following his military service, Arturo built a successful career as an insurance professional, after graduating from Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield College, and California State University, Bakersfield. His professional life was marked by integrity and a commitment to serving others.
A devout man, Arturo put God first every day of his life, embodying his faith in his actions and interactions. His life was a testament to his beliefs, and he was a source of strength for many.
Arturo's personal passions included music and playing the guitar. He was also actively involved in community events, reflecting his commitment to making a positive impact in his community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Letha A. Gonzalez; daughters, Angela Dawn Gonzlez, Athena and Domingo Cardona, Teresa and Victor Gonzalez, Cathy and Raul Zuniga, Laura and Melvin Villali; and his cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Destiny, Dilynn, Samuel, Ava, Jacob, Isaiah, Noah, Isaac, Anthony, Joseph, Mackenzie, and Josh. His beloved Sister, Anita Venegas, and Brother, Fidel Gonzalez. He was preceded in death by his father, Everado Gonzalez; mother, Hilaria Gonzalez; and brothers, Francisco and Ramon Gonzalez and stepson, Ricky L. Early.
Visitation will be held at Mission Funeral Home on January 15, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM. A chapel service will take place at the same location on January 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM, followed by a military procession to Bakersfield National Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
Arturo's generous spirit, legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever be remembered and cherished by those he leaves behind.
