BARBARA ANN FAESSEL

October 4, 1944 February 15, 2024

Palm Desert Barbara Ann Faessel, 79, of Palm Desert, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children, at home on February 15, 2024, after a long illness.

Barbara, the descendant of a pioneer San Diego merchant, was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 4, 1944, to Marco Bruschi, MD, and Bertha Hill Bruschi. The family moved to Bakersfield, California, in 1949, where Dr. Bruschi opened his medical practice and grew his family. Barbara graduated from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield in 1961 and attended the University of Southern California for a short time, before leaving to begin her career in the medical field. She married David Faessel in 1965 and resided in Orange County and worked in various medical offices while raising three children. After divorce in 1977, Barbara continued her career in medical office management and became a registered nurse in 1991. She held nursing positions in Orange, Inyo and Kern Counties, and performed critical care nursing until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and traveled to such places as the pyramids of Egypt and the savannas of Africa. She eventually moved to Palm Desert to be closer to her family members.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and younger brothers, Marco Wesley and Richard Edwin Bruschi. She is survived by her daughter Amy Dahl and son in law James Dahl of Irvine, California, son Mark Faessel and daughter in law Amber of Bermuda Dunes, California, son Matthew Faessel of Oceanside, California, and grandchildren Elizabeth Dahl, Madeline Dahl, Ashley Dahl, Etta Faessel, and Tucker Torres, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
