Barry Douglas Obituary
December 26, 1942 - March 4, 2022
Barry Pierson Douglas was born on December 26, 1942 in Bakersfield, California, to Harry and Virginia Douglas.
Barry spent most of his life growing up in Bakersfield, and he attended Bakersfield High School, graduating in 1960. While in High School he was a member or the FFA - Future Farmers of America. While in the club he raised a prized steer which he later sold at action at the Kern County Fair. Barry spent over 50 years working in wine industry, with the greater part at Giumarra Vineyards. It was at Giumarra that Barry met Betty Light the love of his life. They were married in 1991 and together they enjoyed the adventure of traveling, often taking the chance to go to the coast or to Las Vegas. In 1992 they moved to Los Osos, Morro Bay and opened a restaurant together. They eventually returned to Bakersfield and both resumed work in the wine industry. Betty passed in July of 2019.
Barry was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents and sister Carolyn Newton. He is survived by older sister Judy Bloom, children Aaron Douglas (Annette), Lorie Kirkindoll (Darrin), Cyndi Calvillo (Basil), Alan Light (Wendy), grandchildren Andrew, Abbie, Jamie, Nick, and Kim, great-grandchildren Cameron, Max, and Andie.
A memorial service is being held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 10:00am at Basham Funeral Home, 3312 Niles Street, Bakersfield, CA 93306.

Barry and Betty were very kind to me. My name is Jeannette Silva . I was a caregiver to Barry´s Father Virgil Douglas a Dr. Dentist a very kind gentleman. It was a privilege to have cared for him. Also a blessing. I would just like to encourage you all very soon we will be with the Father . Our Heavenly Father He is coming soon so hold tight to Him. Jesus Christ and our Father The Most High God. much love and prayers for the Family.
