Benjamin Blackwood Obituary

On October 26th 2004, angels from Heaven announced the arrival of Benjamin Gavriel Blackwood. Unexpectedly our little messenger was called back to his "eavanly" Father on December 4th 2007. Ben-Jammin's life touched and blessed so many families, and friends with love and the brilliance that only a child's heart possesses and shares with all who came to know him. Ben will be missed, but our hearts will continue to be overflowing with the memory of our "Little Train Conductor" by his Daddy and Mommy, Billy and Jacquelyn Blackwood; big brudders, Stephen, Dylnan and Jessee; international "brudders" Chandi-Slovakia, Laslo (Kai)-Germany, Hendrik-Germany, and Diego-Columbia and his step-brother, Michael who lives in Oklahoma; Aunt Micki and Uncle Martin; Aunt Dano, Uncle Matt, Nick, Jenna Bean and Shayner Brainer; Aunt Polly, Uncle Stephen and Roxy; Aunt Dyan, Uncle Shawn, Brinahead, Ant-ney, and Emmy Jo; Aunt Trina, Uncle Curtis and Johnny; Gamma Doree ; Papa Stv, Gamma Vee, Great Nana Ruby, PawPaw Bill and Great Aunt Carmen. Our Big Ben was blessed to have a very large extended family that includes our church family at Grace Bible Church and many friends. A celebration of Benjamin's life will be held Friday, December 7th, 10:00 a.m., at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue. Graveside services will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Boulevard, Bakersfield. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Benjamin's name to: Children's Hospital Central California Foundation, 9300 Valley Children's Place, Madera, CA 93636-8762, 559-353-3000; www.childrenscenteralcal.org. So, when you see the trains rolling down the tracks, and hear that whistle blowing, give a wave to our little engineer and have a great and blessed day. Billy and Jackie, I cannot begin to imagine what you have been through, although I do remember how strong you prayed for another child. I only heard of this news yesterday and just want you to know how very sorry I am. No matter what your beliefs are, no parent should ever have to deal with losing their child. My Blackwood Family,
Words cannot express how much we are going to miss Ben and Joseph running through the house fighting over their "Car" slippers or which car they are going to play with. Joseph and Dylan were a pair to say the least. I know you are praying for us as we are you. We love you so much.

Heaven must have been short an angel and God looked down and saw Ben. He decided right then and there that he couldn't have a better representative than that loving caring child. He reached down his hand and carried him home to be with him in a beautiful, peaceful place without pain and without fear. He is now sitting on the lap of God and getting hugs from the angels.
We know that he is missed, but we also know that he is well taken care of and watching us with all of his love and caring.

Dear Vee and Steve,

Viv and I have had a very tough year but reading your Email today about the loss your grandson Benjamin, brought us both to tears, our love and hugs and a specially our prayers go out to you and your family. If you were close to us, it would be so much easier, we would just hug both of you and cry with you, we are speechless and trying to write how we feel is impossible. We know God has a special plan for all of us and sometimes it's very hard to understand, but that's were are Faith keeps us strong and looking to the Lord.
His love will carry us through and our love for him will keep us strong.

From what we read about Benjamin, he was a very special young man and I'm sure God has a very special place for him. May God Bless you and your family and may he keep you strong during this time and may we all look forward to being with Benjamin in Gods Time.

With all our Love and Prayers.

I'm Auntie Charlene's nephew from Minnesota. She e-mailed me about this sad and tragic event. Our hearts go out to the family, as well as our prayers. It is a terrible thing to loose someone so young and so full of life so fast. But the Lord has other plans for Ben, we might not know what they are, but know that Ben does, and he is safe in the arms of our Lord.

You are facing the hardest thing in life that you will ever have to face. May His unlimitted grace shine down on you to give you strenth, understanding, peace, and above all Love.

While I never had the chance to meet Lil Benjamin, Grandpa Steve ( my brother ) spoke of him often, and shared with us many loving memories, & pictures. I too love trains , and yes ...........We will keep um rolling. I am sure the heavens will open up wide and we will all hear that whistle blowing. " Mom, Dad, family, I am safe with the Lord, and hey, he gave me a pair of wings !"

I know that everytime I hear a train now I will be thinking that. Bless you all and please know that regardless of the awkwardness of my words, Our prayers are always with you and we are holding you ever so close. The prayer chain has already been started, I know you will feel each and every one of them. I miss you girls ( all 5 of you ),Take care of yourselves, each other, & please take good care of your dad ( He's the Best),& Gamma Vee, but then you already know that.

Loving you all,
