BILLY EUGENE STEWART, JR.
March 18, 1965 - April 17, 2021
Billy Eugene Stewart, Jr., 56, returned to his heavenly home on April 17, 2021, after a long-fought battle with Covid pneumonia. His devotion to family and firm belief in God were evident in the way he lived his life.
Billy was born to Billy Stewart, Sr. and Linda Stewart in Lepanto, Arkansas, on March 18, 1965. He moved with his family to Bakersfield, California, in 1966. He attended Standard School, Golden State Baptist School, and West Coast Bible Baptist College. Billy enlisted in the Army in 1984 and served as a medic in Huntsville, Alabama until 1987, when he returned to Bakersfield.
Billy shared a long marriage with his wife, Angela, and they raised a blended family of four beautiful children together. Their children and grandchildren were their priority, and they loved spending time together, traveling, and enjoying life to the fullest. Following Angela's death, Billy unexpectedly found love again with Lori. While their time together was cut short, it was filled with so much love, joy, and laughter.
Billy was a small business owner of Stewart Mechanical Seals. He adored his extended family and friends and looked forward to every chance he had to be with them. Billy loved the beach (Avila always held a special place in his heart), and he was always up for an impromptu trip out of town. His sparkling blue eyes and smile could light up any room, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Billy is survived by his wife, Laura (Lori) Stewart; his four children, Ashley Swoboda (Gregg), Megan Stewart Hemingway (Josh), Courtney McLemore (Scott), and Blake Stewart (Teonna); his nine grandchildren, Ashlyn Swoboda, Cadence Swoboda, Cason Swoboda, Nixon McGill, Maxwell McGill, Jude McLemore, Lila McLemore, Barrett Stewart, and Boden Stewart; his parents, Billy Stewart, Sr. and Linda Stewart; his brother, James Stewart (Julie); Lori's children, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Mercy Hospital Downtown for the care and compassion they showed Billy during his long fight with Covid. They, like Billy, are heroes.
A private military service will be held.

I have many fond memories of Billy. We were next door neighbors and he was my friend. We attended Golden State Baptist School together. I'd know those blue eyes and that radiant smile anywhere. I remember when Billy enlisted in the Army. We missed him so much when he left home. Billy has left his earthly home, but for a Heavenly home, and we will see him again. My deepest sympathy to his parents, James and the entire Stewart family. Praying the love of God will comfort each of you.

I never saw Bill when he wasn’t smiling. That smile, and his bright eyes, are what I’ll remember most. We lost you far too soon, Cousin. Sending all my love to you in heaven, and all my prayers for our heartbroken family.
