Bruce Massa Obituary

BRUCE ALVIN MASSA

May 21, 1945 – September 30, 2025

Bruce was a loving husband, father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He was a pharmacist at North Chester Pharmacy which he and his wife Jennifer, owned for over 40 years.

Bruce attended Standard Elementary School and North High School in Bakersfield, CA. He completed the school of pharmacy at the University of Arizona and attained a Pharm. D. Degree.

Bruce's passions included his Grandkids, the beach house, hunting, and time with family and friends. Bruce did not know a stranger and was always friendly and willing to spark up a conversation with anyone.

Bruce is survived by his wife Jennifer, daughters Shawna Manning (Dean), Katie Fry (Colby), and Megan Clayton, (Pat). He had six grandchildren, Ali Stanley (Brian) of Bakersfield, Sierra Rundini (Gregorio) of Sardinia, Italy, Mac and Reyn Clayton of Carpentaria, CA., and Joe and Carmela Fry of Bakersfield. He also had five great grandchildren who were a source of much happiness for Bruce.

Bruce was surrounded by family and friends and he always enjoyed his long conversations with friends Roger Palmer and Bernie Jamison and with his nephew, Kelly Cecil.

Special thanks to Marcia, his RN from Gifted Arms who has been helping Bruce weekly for over 5 years. Physical Therapist Joel, and RN Sally, have also cared for Bruce over the years. Gifted Arms was a terrific home health support to Bruce during his time of need.

We also want to thank the nurses in the ICU at Memorial Hospital. They are so knowledgeable, empathetic, and kind. Shelly Simpson, RN and palliative nurse at Memorial, was a source of information, great comfort, and support to our whole family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined. Please remember Bruce with a smile as he always wanted to make people laugh and smile.
