Bakersfield Carl Cody Holland went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 13, 2023, at home in the loving care of his wife Beverly Davis Holland in Bakersfield, California at the age of 88.

Carl, born outside Stonewall, OK on September 26, 1934 to Thelmar and Lottie Holland, transplanted to Shafter, CA with the family after his 8th grade year. He attended and graduated Shafter High School through 1953. Carl was active in the youth group at Oildale Church of Christ where he met the love of his life, wife of 58 years, Joyce Wells, until her passing in 2012. Later meeting and marrying his current Loving Wife Beverly Davis.

Carl, Joyce and other family were instrumental in the starting of the Frazier Park Church of Christ in approximately 1963. Where he performed his duties as trustee and song leader for many years. Due to age and health the trip to Frazier Park became arduous, making it necessary to attend church closer to home. Westside Church of Christ was their choice.

Carl started his career as a newspaper carrier, then an automotive mechanic. In 1959, finding his career with Kern Valley Packing Co. for 33 years in multiple positions. Retiring in 1992. At times the economic conditions brought on hard times and Carl took on a second job as an Armored car driver. Always maintaining his membership in good standing with the Meat Cutters union and local 1036 (at that time).

Carl was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Joyce, both parents Thelmar and Lottie, 3 brothers, Herman, Vernon and Bobby, and sister Oleta.

He is survived by wife Beverly, son Edward and wife Diana, son Kenton and wife Cindy, son Timothy and wife Cyndy, daughter Carla and husband Wade Johnson. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be held on May 8, 2023, at 10:00am, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd, Bakersfield, CA 93305.
