CATHERINE CURTIS EVERSON

January 16, 1964 - July 16, 2023

Cathy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her smile lit up the room. She loved spending time with family, friends and her dog, going to the beach, traveling, hiking, baking, cooking, gardening and savoring delicious meals. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including a good beer and warm summer evenings.

Cathy met her diagnosis of ALS in December 2021 with a determined attitude and a mission to help future victims who suffer from this incurable disease. With the help of family and friends, Cathy's fundraising efforts to date have yielded $180,646 to the ALS Association. Cathy had great appreciation for those who brought meals, flowers, cards and visits during the difficult days as she lived with ALS. Her bright spirit and sense of humor helped her loved ones cope with her fate.

Cathy was born and raised in Bakersfield, where she graduated from West High School. She met her husband while attending UC Berkeley, where she graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Cathy's career included years at both Esprit de Corps in San Francisco and the Cal Berkeley Oral History office.

Cathy was kind and caring, and always helping others. Through volunteer work, she did the accounting for her children's school fundraisers and initiated the first classroom garden at their elementary school. During the Covid pandemic, Cathy sewed and donated hundreds of masks.

A private celebration of Cathy's life will be held in Burlingame.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to The ALS Association, Golden West Chapter to support finding a cure for this debilitating disease.

Cathy is survived by her mother, Joan Curtis, her father, Ed Curtis, her devoted spouse, Greg Everson, her cherished children, Shell and Julia Everson, her sister, Dana DiVerde and her brother, Andy Curtis. She is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

May Cathy's shining memory and the fact that she is no longer suffering bring comfort and solace to those who mourn her.
