Charles Arney Obituary

There is great sadness in our hearts but great joy as heavens gates opened for Chuck on November 13th 2014, at the age of 63 with family by his side.
Chuck was born and raised here in Bakersfield, he was in the first graduating class of West High School. In younger years his first love was horseracing thanks to his Grandfather Sherman Smith who bought him a thoroughbred racehorse named Straight Scotch. He learned how to be a Jockey and raced him at our local racetrack the Eldorado Manado in Mettler. His excellent skills at playing pool earned him the nickname of "Fast Chuck" (Thanks to J.R. Look) He enjoyed playing coed softball & loved competitive bowling. He was a truck driver & oilfield worker until illness ended his working career. His passion in life was working on his 1957 Chevy Truck. Chuck will be remembered for his good looks, cowboy boots, cowboy hat, and his love of life.
Chuck was preceded in death by his grandparents Virgil & Blanch Arney, Sherman & Slada Smith Cousin Eddie Houser. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, Mother Phyllis Smith, Dad & stepmother Louis & Billie Arney, Wife Diane Arney, son Charlie Arney & Wife Amber, daughter Candyse Arney, son Casey Arney, stepson Patrick, step daughter Hani, grandchildren Clayton, Brooklyn, Terri, & Kenzie Arney, and a grandson on the way (Riley), sisters Kathy & Ed Look, Judy & Kevin Barnes, nephews Chad Look, Cody Look, Colt Look, niece Amanda Arney, as well as an Uncle, Aunts, great nephews/nieces.
A memorial service will be held on November 29th, 2014 at 12 Noon. Chuck was a huge football fan win or lose didn't matter to him the Oakland Raider's was his team! So in honor of Chuck feel free to wear your football colors.
You will be forever in our hearts Chucky Boy! This isn't goodbye, it's see ya later!
