David Barnard Obituary

DAVID KEITH BARNARD, JR.

January 23, 1950 March 14, 2023

Bakersfield David, known as Pop, suddenly entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 14, 2023 due to heart failure.

David was the oldest son born on January 23, 1950 to Keith and Mary Lee Barnard in Lubbock, TX. David attended Lakeside School kindergarten through eighth grade in Old River, CA where he later served a term as a Board Trustee. In 1968 David graduated from Maricopa High School where he made life long friends. David was the captain of his football and basketball teams and was a member of the Big M Club. David continued his education at Bakersfield College where he received his AA degree. At age 15 David went on his first date with the love of his life Patricia. Together they enjoyed a loving marriage for 53 years.

David and Patricia welcomed their first-born daughter, Tamara, in 1971. Shortly after Tamara's arrival David started the Lamont Fence Company, but his love for farming remained strong. In 1972 David partnered with his dad, Keith, and brothers, Danny and B.B. to form Keith Barnard and Sons Farm. In 1980 David and Patricia welcomed their second daughter, Tarrah. David's hobby became 4-B Cattle Company shortly after Tarrah's arrival until they sold in 1996. David and his family farmed cotton, sugar beets, and alfalfa. David was a member of the Lakeview and Fellowship Baptist Church.

David was an amazing girl dad always making sure his girls knew that they could do anything a boy could do and encouraged his girls in all their endeavors.

In 1998 David found he had a second love and became known as Pop to all with the birth of his first grandson, Grant. Soon after his second grandson, Haden, arrived followed by his Princess, Hailee. David shared his love of the outdoors with his grandchildren and taught them great lessons about hunting, fishing, and farming. David never missed a sporting event for his grandchildren.

David knew no stranger; everyone was greeted with a handshake and howdy partner.

David was preceded in death by: his parents Keith and Mary Lee Barnard.

David is lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia. Two daughters and husbands: Tamara and Russell Robertson, Tarrah and Robby Mann. Grandchildren: Grant Robertson, Haden Mann, Hailee Mann. Brothers and wives: Danny and Robin Barnard, Donald (B.B.) and Christy Barnard. Numerous nephews and nieces that he loved dearly. He will forever be in our hearts.

Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 am on March 27, 2023 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3001 New Stine Road, Bakersfield, CA 93309.

We will miss seeing David drive down our Farms road. He came and brought doughnuts, ice cream (when hot), and his priceless wisdom of calm and love. God needed that in Heaven. A True Blessing to all.

To Patricia, Tamara, Grant and family. My prayers are with you and your family. He was such a nice man. We saw you and sat near you at many games (baseball/basketball) Suburu/Lakeside. He was always giving candy to my daughter. May he rest in peace and cherish those great memories forever!

I am so very sorry to hear of David leaving this earth. He is now in the warm light of God & the arms of Keith & Mary Lee.
All of the Bernard family have been a staple in Old River & in the lives of everyone they have ever known. I think of you often when I am remembering my life growing up in Old River.
David & the entire Bernard family are in my thoughts & prayers,

David my friend! You loved my Daddy almost as much as I did! You were one of Gene´s Boys. For me personally, my favorite memory moment with you is your agreeing to dress up as Santa Claus for the kids @ grandson, Grant´s preschool! I know that I this only happened because of your fondness for me (since I was the one asking) & the joy it would be for your grandson & his friends. Love you Pat, T & T, and family
