Dennis Roux Obituary

Bakersfield --- After living an adventurous and full life of 78 years, Denny passed away at his home in Bakersfield, California late in the evening on January 12, 2023. He was born in Bakersfield to Ernest and Angel Roux where he attended St. Joseph's, Garces, and Bakersfield College before continuing his education at St. Mary's College.
A life long resident of Bakersfield, he married the love of his life, Stephanie (Stevie) Coker in 1965. As a teenager he worked off-loading commercial boats at Port St. Luis in Avila, as a cowboy in the coastal foothills, and for the railroads repairing track near Mt. Denali in Alaska. For many years Denny was a salesman and manager, and he especially enjoyed his time at Montgomery Ward where he formed many valued life-long friendships. He loved hunting and fishing, but his true passion in life was his mountain home that he and his wife spent many years building and enjoying. Denny loved nothing more than sitting in the woods and observing the world around him. It was rare for him to miss an evening in the forest watching the sun set.
Denny was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Yvonne E. Roux, and his brother, Louis A. Roux. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, his brother, Rick Roux, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
His wit, companionship, advice, and friendship will be missed more than words can describe. The mountain will never be the same, but his presence will always be felt.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
