Very dear Bill,
As I sit, poised to write, my mind and heart are flooded with the memory of Sunday evenings during my teenage years at San Diego 1st A/G. In my minds eye I see the choir marching down the isles and hear the strains of "Its a highway to heaven; none can walk up there, but the pure in heart...it's a highway to heaven...I'm walking up the King's highway..." My sanctified guess is that Don and Doris Ackers are leading the pack down those golden streets even as we grieve! Ah....what a prince of a man he was. Our prayers are with you, dear Bill, as you grieve the loss of a gifted and loyal friend . Jim joins me in send our deep love and prayers for you and great joy and gratitude for a life well lived!

Bro. Raber, So many good thoughts run through my mind of the years at Arlington Foursquare. What an important part of our young lives, you both were. While there is sadness for those left behind...there is also rejoicing in knowing that Don is with our Lord and that one day we will all be reunited. May you find comfort and strength in the One Who Loves Us All! Gail and Richard Pepper

I am sure Jesus welcomed Don with open arms and a huge smile, for his wonderful talent and gift of music that led us to worship our Lord. His beautiful smile, his humor and grace and love of our Lord will be missed.

Truly a man who walked out his faith and was a man everyone looked up to. Always had a smile for everyone. He will be surely missed but heaven has gained a saint.

I will always remember him for his music and instructing the choir about "enthusiasm" meaning "fullness of God" and wanted the choir to sing with that enthusiasm. I also remember him for all of his Hit Parades and especially playing "Stars and Stripes Forever" on the piano with Sally Farmer on the organ. His fellow pianist, Linda Dorsett, preceded him recently and I know they are playing together even now! The Lord truly used Don to touch many people's lives in a very special way. Until we meet in Heaven again, many of the songs he taught will go on forever in my heart.

So thankful for the influence Don had on my life. Love the memories of all the Gaither music that we all enjoyed singing in choir and going to their concerts - what a great time. He will be missed, but not forgotten. Can't you hear him playing the music that he loved so much?

I will always remember our dear sweet Don standing in front of the CBC Choir singing his heart out, the love of our Lord shining in his eyes. This dear man has lived a dedicated life and is now singing in the Lord's choir. Absent from the body and present with the Lord.
