Doris Kirschenmann Obituary

DORIS LEE KIRSCHENMANN
April 21, 1937 - December 19, 2020

Doris Lee Kirschenmann was born on April 21, 1937, in Bakersfield, California, to L. Dee Wilson and Rena Bell Taylor Wilson. She was the surviving twin and only sister to brothers Woodrow and the late Weldon.

In high school, Doris met Leroy Kirschenmann and quickly fell in love. Leroy always said she was a fun date because her family owned one of the first televisions in town. They were married on November 6, 1955, shortly after her graduation. In 1957, they welcomed their first son, Kenneth, and in 1959, their second son, Mark.

Doris was a dedicated farmer's wife, happily married to Leroy for 65 years, and loving mother. While the boys were in school, Doris worked in the Richland School cafeteria. She later went to work at California Planting Cotton Seed Distributors, where she worked for 25 years.

Doris was a devoted member of Ebenezer Reformed Church for 65 years, where she cheerfully served the Lord through her singing in the choir and with her wonderful cooking for all the church events. She was also a member of the "famous" 21 club.

Doris had five grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother. Together, Doris and Leroy never missed the many sporting and livestock events no matter the distance they had to travel. They also took the grandchildren on many vacations that created lasting memories they will cherish forever. Doris also had ten great-grandchildren that she loved dearly, and one on the way.

Doris is survived by her husband, Leroy, brother, Woodrow Wilsons, Sons Kenneth (Julie) and Mark (Lisa), and her five grandchildren: Elliott (Amanda), Derric, Clint (Stacey), Brent (Carol), and Shelby (Jeff) Parsons. Also surviving are her ten great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Louise Wilson, Dolly Kirschenmann, Joyce Vontz, Valora Gagliano, and many nieces and nephews.

On December 19, 2020, Doris was called home to glory. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends, but they all have comfort knowing she is with her Father in Heaven.

The family would like to thank Reverend Ruben Zartman, Araceli (Sally) Calvillo, and the staff at Paradise Gardens for the wonderful care they gave Doris.

Services were held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Shafter Memorial Park.
