Harry Lang Obituary

Harry "Lenny" Lang October 31, 1952 - October 24, 2012 Lenny was born in Washington and moved as a child to Nebraska. Lenny had a true gift as a bass player and was taught by Randy Meisner (The bass player for the Eagles). At the age of 30, Lenny moved to Bakersfield where he attended classes to become a machinist. He lived for 4 years in Redwood City then returned to Bakersfield where he worked as a machinist for Hoppers. Lenny's love and passion for playing the bass guitar steered him into taking classes on how to build them. He poured his heart and soul into building his first bass guitar and it turned out to be a true work of art. Lenny was a proud member of Valley Bible and The Garden. He was last employed as a counselor at the Bakersfield Rescue Mission. He mentored hundreds of people, not because of his compassion but because of his life experiences. This helped him to truly understand people in times of struggles and battles in their lives. Lenny found his Lord and Savior during his own battle in life and he loved to share his faith. If there is anyone who was ready, willing and able to meet his creator, it was Lenny. There is great comfort in knowing that he is playing his bass guitar high above. His mother, Marjorie Dishman and brother Robert Dishman precede him. He is survived by his two main men in life, his sons C.J. Lang and Cole Lang, daughter in law Monique Lang, the apple of his eye, granddaughter Daisy Lang, sister Colleen Dowell, her husband Don of Sterling, Colorado and all his Rescue Mission and church friends. The family would like to honor Lenny by having a memorial at The Rescue Mission on Monday, November 5th, 2:00pm. Pastor Richard Ferry will be officiating. A reception will be held immediately after the service. Thank you to Pastor Richard Ferry for your true kindness and comfort; you have been our rock during this time. Thank you to Optimal Hospice for your compassion and maintaining Lenny's dignity and wishes. Thank you to Cathy Malone at The Park. Your warmth will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bakersfield Rescue Mission 816 E 21st Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305 Lenny never knew a stranger. All were gifts from God and he cherished all his friendships. Dad, you are truly "ba ba ba bad to the bone" and will be missed. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Lenny, you are such an amazing person. It would be difficult to count the lives you changed by demonstrating the love of Jesus to all who knew you. Congratulations on the promotion, brother. I WILL see you again!
