Jerry Barefield Obituary
July 2, 1942 – May 30, 2024
Jerry Barefield, a cherished family patriarch, esteemed Navy veteran, and successful truck driver and business owner, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024, at 81. He was born in Bakersfield, California, to Jake and Pauline Barefield.
Jerry served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Jerry embarked on a remarkable career as a truck driver and business owner. Known for his unwavering work ethic and determination, Jerry built a legacy in the trucking industry. His commitment to excellence and reliability made him a respected figure among his peers.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry will be remembered most for his kind and generous heart. His acts of kindness extended even to the feline friends he cared for in his backyard, embodying his love for animals, especially cats.
An avid fisherman, Jerry enjoyed nature. He shared his passion for the outdoors with his family and friends, creating cherished memories at Mammoth lakes.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his twin brother, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.
Though he may no longer be with us in body, Jerry's spirit will live on in the memories we cherish and the values he instilled in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Hoffmann Hospice and Magnolia Place for the care they showed to our dad.
A military service will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 9:15 am at the Bakersfield National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Critters Without Litters.
