Kenny Melvin, 72, passed away peacefully in his daughters home surrounded by loved ones.
Kenny (Mel) was born the youngest of 11 children. He graduated from Shafter High School in 1947. In his younger years he belonged to the Kern County Boat Club, he was a master boat builder and a firefighter. In 1992, he retired from the Carpenters Local Union #743. After retiring, Kenny moved to Arizona to be with his children.
He is survived by his 3 wonderful children, sons, Randy and Chuck Melvin; his daughter, Dayna Melvin Jacobs; his 4 grandchildren, Scott and Nickolas Melvin, Danny and Makayla Jacobs; 3 brothers, Willie Floyd, Murray and Morris Melvin and 1 sister, Beatrice Stingl.
Kenneth will be deeply missed by all those he touched.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. at the Shafter Memorial Park Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter, CA.
