Kimberly Sorvig Obituary

Heaven received a special angel, Kimberly Desme Sorvig (59) on the early morning of January 31st. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving daughters Keri Sherwin, Brooke Sorvig, sister Jenny, and son-in-law Kevin. Kim fought a long five-year courageous battle with Metastatic Melanoma, and she was beyond grateful for all of the love, support, and encouragement throughout her fight.
Kim was born in Santa Monica, CA on March 6, 1957, and was raised in Bakersfield, CA. In 1976 she moved to Arroyo Grande, CA where she started her career in dental assisting by working for Dr. William Calder for 32 years. In 2007 Kim pursued her passion in caring for the elderly. She managed two assisted living homes and was devoted to "her ladies" as she called them. She found so much worth in her caregiving career and treated her residents as if they were family.
Kim was a loving mother who lived each moment for her daughters. She was an amazing sister, who cherished and loved each of her siblings unconditionally. She was just an incredible person with a beautiful soul that many are proud to call a friend. Kim had a special way with her infectious smile and enduring kindness, which undoubtedly touched the lives of everyone she met.
Kim was predeceased by parents Fred and Claudia Desme. She is survived by her two devoted daughters Keri and Brooke, her siblings: Cindy Wilkening (Mark), Greg Desme (Janis), Jenny Desme, Vicky Prout (Daryl), and Beth Shanley (Mark), her son-in-law Kevin Sherwin and family, several nieces and nephews, along with many gracious friends to whom we thank. We want to give a special thank you to Bill Redman, Cathy Smith, and Judy Ferguson for your ongoing support and love. We were all so blessed to have many precious memories with our sweet Kim, which we will all hold dear to our hearts forever.
We would like to express our gratitude to the amazing Dr. Brian DiCarlo, Arroyo Grande Rehab, Sierra Vista staff, and especially Central Coast Home Health and Hospice, all who helped provide such exquisite care throughout Kim's journey.
Private burial to be held in Los Banos, CA where she will be laid to rest next to her father. Officiated by Monsignor Craig Harrison of Bakersfield, CA. A

Always the wonderful smile from the day I met her as a freshman in HS - I didn't know a soul and soon I was part of the group of friends that had gone to elementary school together - we had wonderful times full of laughter and fun. she was a person full of joy and enthusiasm for life . God took his angel home.Prayer for the family.

That is heart breaking news to come across in the morning paper. Thoughts and prayers for Kari and Brooke whom I never met. It seems to early in your journey to be separated from your mother.
Oh the siblings, the sisters and brother, my deepest and most sincere sympathies. It has to be absolutely heart breaking. I hope the family can find peace and blessings in Kim's ultimate healing.

Kim your passing leaves us truly heartbroken and saddened. This world will miss the joy and happiness you brought into all of our lives. We know you will always be watching over Keri and Brooke as you always have, like a loving mama bear bringing up her cubs. The smile in your voice and heartfelt giggle at every greeting always brightened our days. We will hold on to those memories forever and we are here for both Keri and Brooke. You are in our prayers, with love. The Manion Family; Peter, Dolores, Cory, Amanda, and Nick.
