Louis A. Rambaud 1922 - 2010 Louis Rambaud, age 87, died peacefully on March 22, 2010, at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. The Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Sacred Heart Church, 9915 Ramos Avenue, in Greenfield. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane. Louis was born in La Plaine, Chabotte, France in 1922 and emigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of three. He attended grammar school in the Greenfield area and began farming as a young teenager when his father was injured in an accident. In 1944 he married Josephine Etchecopar, his devoted wife and farming partner of many years. Shortly after their wedding he served his country in the military in North Africa and Europe. Upon returning to civilian life, he farmed in the Greenfield area until retirement in the mid-80's. He and Josephine enjoyed retirement together until her passing in February 2008. Louis, known as Louie or Tony to his family and friends, prided himself in being a self-sufficient farmer, maintaining and repairing equipment himself and only occasionally relying on hired help. When he wasn't busy on the farm, he was an active member of the Sacred Heart Men's Club and a supporter of his sons' sporting activities. He was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and enjoyed traveling to games and listening to them on the radio. And in his later years he was a dedicated political observer with strong conservative convictions. Louis is survived by son, Louie and wife Charline; son, Larry and wife Pam; grandchildren, Martin and wife Sylvian, Dennis, Nick and wife Jessica, Melissa and husband Brad, and Cassie; great grandchildren, Ethan, Ashlie and Cecily. Pallbearers will be Martin Rambaud, Dennis Rambaud, Nick Rambaud, Fred Azparren, Javier Gamon and Brad Hawkins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County or the
American Heart Association - Kern County Chapter.
