Martha Jan Williams, age 56, of Bakersfield, CA passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in Austin, TX. Jan, as she was most commonly known, was born in Lynwood, CA, October 7, 1947. From the approximate age of 2 until 18 years old, she lived and was raised in Mojave, CA where she graduated from high school in 1965. In June of 1966 she married Rodney Carl Williams and moved to Tehachapi where she lived and raised four children until 1988. She then moved to Bakersfield where she lived and worked for the majority of the rest of her young, but beautiful life, except for the last five months which were spent in Austin, TX.
Throughout her life Jan enjoyed multiple hobbies and crafts such as oil painting, quilting, crochet, needlepoint and guitar. Jans kindness and love through her caring, concern, and giving was, and still will be cherished by her family, friends, co-workers, and many others whom she knew, and who knew her.
Jan is survived by her children, Travis Williams of Springfield, MO, Zane Williams of Portage, WI, Janna Minorchio of Austin, TX; and Blake Williams of Bakersfield, CA; brothers, Randall and Arden Kelley of Mojave, CA; former husband, Rodney Carl Williams of Checotah, OK; her 4 grandchildren, Savannah, Madison and Austin Williams and Kade Minorchio.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2004, 4:00 p.m., at The Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2801 Bernard St., Bakersfield, CA 93306 (661) 871-5000.
