MICHAEL LANDIS LONG

June 6, 1962 June 18, 2021

Michael Landis Long, aka Baby Mike, aka Tiny, was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, and uncle. He went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2021 at age 59 after a months-long battle with COVID.

Michael Landis was born on June 6, 1962 in Bakersfield, California to Larry Randall Long and Gloria Jean Smith Long. Michael was a wonderful big brother to three siblings. He loved playing practical jokes on the neighbors as a child, which constantly got him into trouble. Even as a boy, he loved helping people. He joined the Cub Scouts, then became a Boy Scout. He loved building pinewood derby cars and would help others build theirs. His cars usually won.

His love of building things with others led him to serve in the Armed Forces from 1980 - 1983. Michael loved God, loved his family, and loved to serve others. His servant heart led him to join HOG and the Bakersfield chapter of Black Sheep Harley-Davidsons for Christ in 2006, which soon became one of his greatest passions. It is also where he received the moniker Tiny. He proudly served as Black Sheep chapter President from 2012 through 2020, when he retired from the position of President to become chapter Treasurer. Tiny never met a stranger, and he met a new friend everywhere he went. His ministry was helping others and showing them the love of Jesus Christ through his kindness and generosity. His greatest pleasure was the privilege to share God's love and to pray for or with others, whether they were family, lifelong friends, or someone he had just met. Although others called him Tiny, they will remember him due to his big personality and the unmistakable mark he left everywhere he went.

Michael was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Ann Long; his children and their spouses: Joshua Long, Landis Long, Jonah Long, Christa and Casey McCurdy, and Brandon and Brandelyn Turner; his grandchildren: Evan Long, Maci Long, Tristan Turner, Ruby McCurdy, Reid McCurdy, Lena McCurdy, and Remy Long; his sister: Randie Judkins (Donovan); and his brothers: Randall Long and Nicholas Long(Maria).

Services will be held at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021. There will be a Memorial immediately following at Bakersfield First Assembly of God on California Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Teen Challenge of Southern California or Bakersfield Black Sheep Harley-Davidsons for Christ in Michael's honor.

Very sorry to see Mike has passed. I knew him from when his son Landis and my son played tackle football together probably 16 years ago. Honestly the only time I saw him was when I would run into him out and about, mostly at the Walmart in Oildale. But every time he made it feel like we saw each other weekly. We would talk in the parking lot like we were lifelong friends each time. And that was because he was a good guy. I will miss seeing him. God bless him and his family. Rest in peace Mike.

Very saddened to hear the news of a great family friend. Mike taught me how to ride a dirt bike, although I crashed pretty hard my first time he was there to pick me up and wipe the dirt off of me. He taught me in life we fall but we always get back Up and wipe the dirt off...thank you Mike for being a great man and someone I looked up to and someone I´m able to tell my kids story about. Your legacy will live on

'Tiny' will be sorely missed. He was one of a kind with the biggest heart.

I met Tiny through the 'Hog Group' and rode many miles with this man. You would always find him with a smile and a hearty handshake. Tiny never met a stranger, and instantly made friends every where he went.

Although his loss here on Earth is sorrowful, I am comforted knowing that he now is reaping his rewards in Heaven.

Until we meet again, save a place for me, my friend.

I will miss you, buddy.

Your friend, Mart
