Milton Buswell Obituary

Milton Burbank Buswell (Buzz) was born on June 13, 1927 in Newbury, Massachusetts and passed away on February 9, 2015. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, loving husband and caring companion. And a friend to everyone he met whether through his business or racing, his favorite pastime.
Buzz grew up in Los Angeles, California helping his dad, Frank Buswell, with running the families cafe. Buzz joined the Navy at the age of 17. After serving his country, he was honorably discharged. For a short time Buzz played baseball for the minor leagues hoping to make baseball his love. But that was not to be.Buzz always loved cars and racing. After leaving the military, he started his own business, Fleet parts and Speedometers which later became known as Fleet Parts and Instruments. He moved to Bakersfield in 1953 where his business grew for the next 60 years. Buzz loved his business and working on cars, trucks and anything on 4 wheels or more. During this time he joined the Smokers Club where his love of racing came alive. It was there that he made many lifelong friends enjoying cruises, and many Las Vegas trips and lifetime memories. Buzz built and raced a Class C-Diesel Streamliner called "Buzz's Dream". With his race car and close friends Ernie Hashim and Hut along with many other friends, he would travel to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Nevada. In 2004 he broke the world record for his class reaching a speed of 247 miles per hour. That record stood and was only broken two years ago. Buzz leaves behind many loving friends and family that will remember him in their hearts.
Buzz is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Buswell, his second wife, Jeanne Buswell, granddaughter Carrie Kreman. Also a son Bradley Ivan Buswell (from his first marriage).
He is survived by his first wife, Beverly Irene Pope and their children. Daughter Miriam Brenda DuBose (David) and their children, Serena (Rick) Seivers of Florida and Reid DuBose and his children, Kaiden and Kiley. And Jed (Aimee) DuBose. His daughter Jennifer (Fred) Chambers and their children Mandy Hardin and her children Taylor, Jacob, Lindsey, Sara and Justin. Also Jennifer's son Matt (Amanda) Chambers and their daughter Harper Rose. And his son Bradley I Buswell. He is also survived by his children by his second wife Jeanne. Kelly (Van Westen) children Amy (Devon) Thomas and their children Kole and Natasha, Beth Van Westen. His son Brady (Lisa) their daughter Ashley and her son Jaydan
