Myron F. Overton

1935 - 2013

Myron F. Overton June 29, 1935 - June 6, 2013 Myron was born in Bakersfield, California to his loving parents Earl C. and Hazel J. Overton. Myron attended Longfellow elementary, Panama Union and Kern County Union High School. While in high school he met and fell in love with Barbara Jane Terle, the girl he knew would someday be his wife. After high school, Myron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served with Weapons Company, First Battalion Seventh Marines in Korea. Upon returning to the U.S. he and Barbara were married and after his release from active duty he returned to school to study electronics engineering. In 1961 their son Bryan was born. Myron retired from the United States Information Agency; Voice of America in 1997 and in retirement filled his life with his wife, son and grandchildren. Myron was preceded in death by his father and mother and brother Elvin Richard Overton. Myron passed peacefully in his home with his wife and son at his bedside. He is survived by Barbara his loving wife of 58 years, his son Bryan, his daughter-in-law Pam Overton, and his loving grandchildren Hannah and Samuel Overton. The funeral service will be a private ceremony for family held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Wednesday June 12th, at 10:00 AM. www.bakersfield.com/obits
