NICHOLAS DONN SIVESIND
August 7, 1989 September 20, 2021
Nicholas Donn Sivesind was born August 7, 1989 in Bakersfield, California to parents Jeff Sivesind and Susan Wilson. He was raised by both parents along with his stepfather Darrell Wilson. We are heartbroken to announce, Nick lost his battle with Covid-19 and passed away on September 20, 2021. Although devastated, we are incredibly proud of the epic life he lived in his 32 years.
Nick's entire childhood was spent exploring the great outdoors. He loved being outside or just in the garage, taking things apart and trying to figure out how they work. His curiosity of mechanics would come in handy later, but even as a child hed ask if he could fix your brakes, oil your bike chain or change your tire. Every sibling, neighbor and friend of Nick's can attest to that. He quickly became your best friend and wanted to take care of everyone around him.
His father Jeff encouraged his love of sports from a young age where he learned the importance of teamwork and how to support others. Jeff worked at the Bakersfield Police Department, so he also instilled in his son the importance of service to his community. Being out in nature was something Nick very much enjoyed. His mother, Susan, would take him and his siblings to the family cabin every summer near Shaver Lake California where Nick would absolutely thrive in water sports, camping and other outdoor activities. She also introduced him to his life-long favorite entertainer, Garth Brooks.
A pivotal point in Nick's life came when his stepfather and mentor, Darrell Wilson, surprised him with his first go-kart. He introduced Nick to what would become a huge focal point in his life racing. Nick's fascination with the world of motorsports grew rapidly and he submerged himself in the sport. He loved going to the racetrack, down into the pits, watching drivers and crews and studying their every move. Eventually, Nick joined his cousin Lance Wilson's team and later Buddy Shepard's team, two accomplishments he was extremely proud of.
Nick married the love of his life, Traci, in 2017. They have been completely inseparable for the last 11 years. They gave birth to their first son, Nicholas Donn Sivesind Jr. on September 14, 2021. They have three dogs, Buddy, Abby and Zoie (rest in peace, Holli). They have built a beautiful home and life together where he will be incredibly missed every day, but never forgotten. Traci, like Nick, is loved by so many and will have an amazing group of friends and family to lean on always.
People around Bakersfield will remember Nick as a family man and a humble, yet fierce businessman who worked so hard to grow Wilson's Industrial Pump into what it is today. He took over the business at the young age of 19 and worked non-stop to prove himself and earn the respect of his peers. The way Nick supported co-workers and friends was unparalleled and will indeed be a part of his legacy. There is little doubt that those same people will teach Nicholas Donn Jr. about how legendary his father was.
Nick is survived by his wife Traci, son Nicholas Donn Jr., parents Jeff Sivesind, Darrell and Susan Wilson, siblings Eric Sivesind (Daleray), Kristin Sivesind, Karleigh Ramirez (Max), Lief Sivesind, stepsiblings Lindsey Powers (Dustin), Darrell Wilson Jr. (Tiffany), Greg Linder (Alycia). He was also so loved by his Grandma June, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Don and Mary Jean Sivesind, Frank and Patricia McNeely and cousins Lance Hillis and Isabella McNeely.
