PHILLIP EDWARD PECK

July 6, 1940 – November 9, 2025

Phillip Edward Peck passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at home, surrounded by family. He was born on July 6, 1940 to Lloyd and Erna (Baier) Peck in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Case Western Reserve University, where he met his wife Elizabeth (Morrow). He spent 8 fulfilling years in the Coast Guard Reserve, which led to a lifelong love of the sea. He graduated with his DDS degree and moved his family to Southern California to open his dental practice. Phil practiced dentistry for over 40 years and had generations of families continue to see him for their dental care due to his kindness and gentle touch. He had a passion for fishing, cultivating orchids, and enjoying the outdoors with his family. Phil was very involved with the Boy Scouts with his 3 sons, eventually becoming Scoutmaster of Troop 371 in Tarzana, California.

Phil was a man who pursued varied crafts with the highest attention to detail. These hobbies included stained glass, carpentry, fly-tying, woodcarving, and tole painting. Many of these items still decorate the family home to this day. Phil also had a passion for giving back to his community and volunteered his time with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, the Sierra Pacific Fly Fishing Club, and the Huntington Conservatory where he helped care for their collection of over 10,000 orchids. He was a kind and loving soul and positively influenced every person who crossed his path.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth (Morrow); and his sons Bryan (Michelle), Eric (Monica), and Todd. He also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank his caregivers Erin, Amy, Southea, Alyssa, and especially his granddaughter Kimberly, who provided so much comfort and care in his final days. We deeply mourn his passing, but feel so grateful to have been blessed by this wonderful man, who left us with a lifetime of cherished memories.

In lieu of gifts, the family requests donations be made in Phil's name to the Sierra Pacific Fly Fishing Club (website: www.spff.org or email: [email protected]).

It was so easy to become Phil´s friend. He was so gregarious and upbeat all the time. After graduating from dental school, I called many dentists in the San Fernando Valley, asking if they needed an associate. Phil was one of those dentists and I chose to work for him. We became instant friends. So many things in common - love of fishing, football, rivalries (USC vs UCLA), concerts, etc. Even when I built my own office and practice, we continued our tight friendship.

This is the kind of guy Phil was: always happy, always positive, always engaging, and always looking to add humor to the conversation. And in the almost 20 years we worked together, we didn´t have a single argument or even disagreement. That´s unheard of for partners together that long, but that´s the kind of guy Phil was. Love you Phil.

I'll never forget ocean yellowtail fishing with Phil (and family/friends). He insisted on bringing as many fishing poles as he could carry and clearly stated "I love my fishing poles" with puppy dog eyes. Upon return he even accidently brought an extra pole (boat rental pole) back to the condo. We all had a good laugh with the deckhand (Keith) when he came over to pick it up. That day he immediately hooked into a fiercely fighting Yellow tail--then all of a sudden the fight ended. "I got spooled" Phil claimed. It was sad silence for about 10 minutes until he hooked up again---then it became a funny story (and Phil put more line on his reel for next time!. We will miss you!
