Rafael V. Gutierrez
Rafael V. Gutierrez June 25, 1981 - December 21, 2011 Rafael V. Gutierrez was born in Bakersfield, CA, to Victor and Lucia Gutierrez on June 25, 1981. He passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2011. Rafael was a cancer survivor, which encouraged him to take up cycling, where he celebrated his survival afterwards. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was camping, taking his backpacking adventures, or hunting, and had plans to start taking his brother, Victorio, with him. Rafael also enjoyed art, drawing, playing video games, and was a technology wiz. He got along with everyone and always had a good outlook in life. He took life seriously but wore a smile. Rafael is survived by his parents, Victor and Lucia Gutierrez; brothers, Victor, Victorio, and Alfredo; and sisters, Diana, Elva, and Sofia. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Funeral Mass will be held today, Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, 900 H Street.
