Richard Miller Mangarin, a man whose life was a testament to hard work, unwavering dedication, and profound love, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 29, 2025. Richard's journey was marked by extraordinary achievements and a deep commitment to both his family and the world around him.

Richard's greatest love story began at the age of 14 with his junior high school sweetheart, Bobbie. Together, Richard and Bobbie built a beautiful family, leaving behind a legacy in their cherished children: He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Robin and husband Jim Scott, Rick and Melissa Mangarin, Brandi and Christopher Mangarin and his grandchildren, Zachary, Riley, Jack, Barbara, Jordan, Max, Logan and Jinessa and great grandchildren, Jacob, Brooks and Noa. He was also a beloved brother to Mary and Daniel. He is preceded in death by his parents Cecelio and Hilda Mangarin and siblings Alfred, Michael, Yolanda, Linda, and granddaughter, Madisyn.

Despite only graduating high school, Richard's brilliance and leadership were undeniable. He rose through the ranks at Lockheed Aircraft, becoming an exceptional leader of production teams. His keen mind and steadfast resolve were instrumental in the manufacturing of some of the most revolutionary projects in aerospace history, including the iconic SR-71 Blackbird and the groundbreaking F-117A Stealth Fighter. His contributions to these legendary aircraft stand as a testament to his innate ability to inspire and achieve seemingly impossible feats.

An avid fisherman, he found solace and joy on the ocean fishing with his sons and grandsons. His love for the environment fueled his stalwart commitment to its preservation. Richard was also a passionate advocate for change, consistently striving to improve the lives of others, especially those who were at a disadvantage. His compassion and desire for a more equitable world were hallmarks of his character.

Richard's life was a masterclass in living with purpose, integrity, and an open heart. He will be remembered for his sharp intellect, his strong work ethic, his sense of humor and his profound capacity for love.

A service to celebrate Richard's remarkable life will be held at Canyon Hills in Bakersfield on Thursday, November 6, at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, continuing Richard's legacy of caring for others and the world we share.
