Ronald Bane Obituary

RONALD LEE BANE

July 9, 1933 December 20, 2021

Ronald Lee Bane, age 88, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 20, 2021, in Bakersfield, CA.

He is survived by his children Melanie Tubberville (David), Keith Bane, Claudia Wilkerson (Dennis), and Ellen Bane, his grandchildren Cody Wilkerson (Courtney), Katie Waters and Brandon Bane, his great grandson Weston Waters, his sister Joyce Abbott and sister-in law, Rosemary Bane.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Beryl, his parents Aubrey and Lillie Mae Bane, and his brother Kenneth Bane.

Ron was born July 9, 1933, in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Alhambra High School where he earned Southern California CIF Player of the Year in 1951 in basketball. He received a scholarship to UCLA and played 4 years varsity basketball for John Wooden. After graduation with a Business degree and completion of ROTC, he entered the United States Air Force as Second Lieutenant.

Ron was affiliated with the Los Angeles Times for over 40 years and began delivering papers in his early teens. He worked for the corporate office but soon was offered the Home Distribution Dealership in Orange County. There he met the love of his life, Beryl. They met in September 1959 and married December 31st that year. The Home Distribution of the Times in Bakersfield, CA was offered to Ron and accepted. The family moved in March 1968.

In Bakersfield Ron found his true calling in life as a minister and evangelist of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was an ordained Minister. He traveled on overseas mission trips with churches and Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. He oversaw Word Alive which provided food and clothing to the neighborhood and homeless in Oildale.

Ron enjoyed a love of travel to Hawaii. He enjoyed getting a great deal for family and church groups.

Ron was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandpa, great papa, friend and mentor. He positively encouraged his children and grandchildren in multiple sporting, community and school events.

Thank you to Bakersfield Community Hospice and their dedicated caregivers Kelsey Bailey and Dallas Langston as well as Dr. Don Tran.

Having known and worked with Ron in ministry for many years I offer my sincerest condolences to his friends and family. He was a true soldier of the cross and was absolutley fearless when facing the devil. Through the years, I have personally seen him lead many hundreds of people to salvation through Jesus Christ.
Losing a man of Ron's caliber demishes us all and saddens us unto tears, but our loss is heaven's gain. I consider myself very blessed to have called Ron and his wife Beryl my friends.
