Ruby Schultz

Ruby (Brown) Schultz was born September 27, 1918 in Fairview, Oklahoma; one of eight children born to Flora (Wichert) and Benjamin Brown. She was baptized on May 8, 1930 in the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church, North. Ruby attended school in Fairview and the family moved to Shafter in the early 1930's.
On January 15th, 1939, she married John A. Schultz at the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church and in 1940 the Lord blessed them with a beautiful daughter, Beverly Eileen. Beverly is married to Earl Hall and they have two children, Brad and Stacy, who reside in Fresno.
Ruby worked as a floor lady at the potato packing shed for Maple Leaf Farms for 10 years and in later years enjoyed helping where needed for her son-in-law and daughter at Hall Management Corporation.
Ruby loved gardening and kept an immaculate home. She had a green thumb and was ready to give advice to family on which trees or flowers to plant.
Ruby was a dedicated grandmother; listening to Brad's stories and supporting Stacy in her many rodeo competitions. She was musically inclined and taught Brad to play the guitar and keyboard. She also encouraged her grandchildren to enjoy reading. Brad described Ruby as being a good listener, a teacher of life skills, an encourager and someone who always gave good advice.
John preceded Ruby in death, January 28, 1988. The Lord graciously allowed John and Ruby with forty-nine years of a beautiful married life together, forty-seven years of which were spent in Wasco.
Ruby had spent the last 15 years living in Fresno, and the last 4 years with Earl and Beverly. Earl said she was not a stereotypical mother-in-law. He loved her being with them, she was never a burden, never in the way and only gave advice when asked. They will miss her dearly.
Surviving Ruby are her daughter, Beverly and husband Earl Hall; grandson, Brad Hall and wife Adrianna; granddaughter, Stacy and husband Todd Hampton; sisters, Elsie Garrison and Esther Klassen; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Edna Gruneau, Anna Davison, Minnie Nikkel, Fred Brown and Wesley Brown.
A graveside service will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home, Shafter on Saturday, December 20, at 11am at Shafter Memorial Park for Ruby Schultz, age 96, of Fresno who passed away December 14, 2014 in Fresno. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Friday, December 19 from 10am to 8pm.
