SANDY LYNN JONES

California City Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Abernathy, her mother Katherine Abernathy, her sister Connie Biehl and the love of her life Douglas Jones.

She is survived by her two daughters Alisha (Joshua Meister), Jayde (Ryan Gerstl), 4 grandchildren, Logan Meister, Cameron Meister, Kyle Gerstl, and Brooke Gerstl. She is also survived by her brother Randy Abernathy (Marysol) and many nieces and nephews.

Sandy was employed with Mojave Unified School District for more than 25 years. She spent her whole career making life long friends and being considered a mom to many students and the neighborhood kids. Sandy was a union representative through Mojave Unified most of her career. Sandy also had a huge passion for the East Kern historical society, and dedicated her time and talent to helping the organization.

Sandy loved crafting and spent most of her time making beautiful jewelry which is cherished by many. Sandy enjoyed family time and continuing the family traditions. Sandy's favorite holidays were Christmas and Halloween where she would always turn her garage into a full theme along with a role to play as she passed out candy.

The viewing services will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Basham Funeral Care, 3312 Niles St., Bakersfield, CA 93306.
