Steve Bolles Obituary

STEVE BOLLES

September 20, 1960 – March 17, 2025

Bakersfield – Steve Bolles was born to Ben and Phyllis Bolles in Bakersfield, California on September 20th, 1960.

Steve left us unexpectedly on March 17th, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Kelli, his children: Crystal and partner April, Stephanie and Billy, Daniel and Laura. His grandchildren: Dylan, Makaylah, Madielyn, Alexis and Charley. His brother Keith and Cathy and their family, his sister Jenni and Kevin and their family. He is also survived by many friends, employees, valued Nursery customers and many more.

Steve spent his life doing what he loved. He began his career as a gardener which led to he and Kelli opening Bolles Nursery Landscape. He spent literally every day at the nursery, because it brought him so much joy to help others and share his knowledge and love for plants. The nursery team became his family and he cared for them dearly.

Steve was literally the epitome of "give you the shirt off your back if you needed it."

Steve was a humble man who only needed his family, his dog, a good meal, and a cold beer to be happy. He passed doing what he loved.

Celebration of Life to be held Tuesday, April 1st, 2025 from 11am-2pm at Bolles Nursery Landscape.

Still think about Steve often. There was something about him that just "stays with you". A very unique person and my friend.

So deeply sadden to hear this about Steve passing. My Mom and Phyllis were best friends since their late teens. We all grew up together as our moms were such good friends. Lots of memories from childhood and at the Nursey on wible to Rosedale where Steve helped us with making our backyard a tropical paradise. Steve was such a sweet soul and will be missed by so many friends and his treasured family.

Steve was someone who always said hi to me when I went into his nursery. The last time I saw him he gave me his condolences for the loss of my lovely wife Patricia. That surprised me, because I didn't think he knew that she had died. Steve had told me he had 2 strokes earlier. I told him to get some DMSO and apply its to his head if the was getting another stroke, and to take it everyday to help prevent another stroke. I will pray for you Steve when I go to daily Mass. Rest in peace my friend.

I stumbled across Bolles Nursery when they were located on Oak. Kelly and Steve were so much fun to talk to. They helped me find the best plants for my yard. Almost all of the pots I have are from their store. Steve always took time to joke and talk with me. I followed them to Allen because I knew he was the best in town. I will miss him not joking with me sitting in his golf cart. He will be missed.

My heartfelt condolences to the Family. I'll never forget the first time I met Mr. Bolles at the Nursery's Oak Street location. He noticed me walking around the Nursery with a quizzical look, dropped everything he was doing, and came over to help me. He took time to answer all my questions and did it with a smile. I watched how respectful he with his employees too. He was genuine and will be missed. I list myself as a friend because that is the way he made me feel. My prayer is that he rests in his eternal reward.

He was a great person who I enjoyed being around. He used to make me laugh when I went to the nursery when it was on Oak street. He always called me by name and helped me with my plants. If I wasn´t feeling well he would fix me a drink lol! He will be sorely missed. RIP Steve!

Steve was a great human being. A very kind man with a large passion for helping others. I became friends with Steve in 1977. I will dearly miss our visits at the nursery. Rest in Peace my brother, Donny Hopkins
