THOMAS DAVID FLORES

September 14, 1957 – November 4, 2024

Bakersfield – Thomas Flores passed away on November 4, 2024. Born on September 14, 1957, in Montebello, California, and raised in Bakersfield, California. Tom was one of seven children born to John and Sara Flores.

Tom was a devoted husband to his wife, Karen, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. He was a proud father to his children Katrina, Krista (Ricardo), and Thomas (Renee), and a cherished grandfather to Tristen, Zane, Axton, Serene, and Nikki. He is survived by his mother, Sara Flores, his siblings: Annette Lesnak (Eddie), Carol Uribe, Martin Flores (Heidi), Patrick Flores (Sherry), Paul Flores (Kelley), John Flores (Beverly), and numerous relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, John Flores, and other beloved relatives.

In 2014, Tom retired from Chevron after 38 years of dedicated service. A man of many talents, he could fix anything and was always busy working on a project. He was a roller hockey coach, baseball coach, lover of good music, an avid fisherman and hunter, lover of yard sales, and never backed away from a card game with family. He was mechanically inclined and loved to work on cars, often teaching friends and family how to repair them. He was a master storyteller that would keep you on pins and needles until the end. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He attended countless soccer games, graduations, baseball games, weddings, beach trips, birthday parties, family celebrations, and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Karen. He took great pride in his role as a grandfather, and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He was a devoted catholic and active member of Christ the King Church.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff at Memorial Hospital ICU and Neuro ICU, the Encompass Rehabilitation staff, the kind staff at Bristol Hospice, and to everyone who kept Tom and his family in their thoughts and prayers.

Tom's spirit, sense of humor, and love for his family will be missed, but never forgotten.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held on November 12, 2024 at Christ the King Church. A viewing will be held at 9:00am, rosary will be held at 9:30am, mass to follow, and graveside service at Greenlawn Southwest at 11:30am.
