Wanda Louise (Wanda Lou) Malone Hardy was born January 30, 1934, to Oscar and Tennie Malone in Monette, Arkansas. She went to be with the Lord February 10, 2004, in Bakersfield, California.
Wanda Lou married J.D. Hardy on March 16, 1949. Wanda Lou and J.D. relocated to Fresno, California in 1950. Wand Lou and J.D. had three sons and a daughter. They moved to southern California in 1954 where they remained until relocating to Bakersfield in 1972. Wanda Lou and J.D. Hardy entered the ministry in 1957. Wanda Lou became an integral part of the ministry as a singer, songwriter and speaker. They were pastors in Norwalk, California, from 1960 until 1969 when they went on the evangelistic field. They traveled extensively preaching and singing the gospel until 1986 when they became pastors of the Sunshine Full Gospel Church in Oildale, where they remained until their retirement in June 2002. Wanda Lou was known around the country as a wonderful and inspiring woman of God. She always carried herself with simple dignity and was always available to anyone who needed a helping hand. Her talent for singing and writing was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Wanda Lou had a servants heart, and her incredible energy was inspiring to all that knew her. Her simple yet effective ideas and techniques were copied by ministers (as well as layman) wives around the country. Wanda Lou was an energetic, compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. Her inspiration will live on in the hearts and lives of all that knew her. The card ministry that she founded, still ministers to people around the country.
She was preceded in death by her father (Oscar Malone) and son (John David) and is survived by her husband J.D.; sons and their wives, Jack and Sheila Hardy of Grover Beach, Len and Aleta Hardy of Taft; daughter, Susan Young and her husband, Dwight of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Jason and Jackie Hardy, Jennifer and Paul Leiniger, Lee Hardy, Crystal Hardy and Ryan Hardy; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Hardy, Jordan Hardy, Jessica Hardy and Cole Leininger; mother, Tennie Malone; sister, Ruby Mae Pinkston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews that adored Aunt Lou.
Wanda Lou leaves a legacy of love and compassion to all of her friends, family and to her church family. Arrangements are being handled by Kern River Family Mortuary, 1900 N. Chester Ave., Bakersfield.
Wanda Lous memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2004, at New Life Center, 4201 Stine Road in Bakersfield.
The Hardy Family would like to extend our thanks for all of the love and support we have received from our friends and church family during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the wonderful people at Hoffmann Hospice who were so incredibly helpful during this time. Donations can be made to Hoffmann Hospice in the name of Wanda Lou Hardy.
