Xavier Gonzalez Obituary
Xavier Gonzalez, 62, passed away on Saturday, July 25, at his Bakersfield home surround by his wife, sons, and loved ones.
He was born August 14, 1952, to Carmen and Antonio in Pasco, WA.
In 1971, Xavier graduated from Bakersfield High School. On Nov. 25, 1972, he married his high school sweetheart Rosie. They were married for 42 years.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve Corp in 1974, where he served his country for the next six years. While in service, he started his career as a lineman for the next 38 years with PacBell/AT&T.
He is preceded in death by his brother Tony.
He is survived by his son Xavier Jr., daughter-in-law Chris, and grand children: Faith, Abby, and Xavier III; son Ralph, daughter-in-law Marci, and grand children Trinity and Ralph Sebastian; sisters Rocio, Cora, Ruth and brothers Renee, Cesar, and many, many relatives
and friends.
Xavier lived his life as a God fearing man. He spent his Thursdays with his wife attending adoration and Sundays at St. Francis of Assisi Parish for mass. He served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He raised his sons to be men of God and continued to pass that same devotion to Christ into his grandchildren.
Xavier will always be remembered as a man who gave his time, advice, and love without hesitation. In many ways, he was an instrument of God, who loved to share his knowledge, passions, and insightful wisdom to those he encountered. He never asked for much, but only loyalty and honesty. He will forever be in the hearts of those who loved him and the memories of him will continue to prevail through the great moments that he shared with those who knew him.
Please join us for the visitation on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Basham-Hopson Funeral Care (620 Oregon St.) On Friday, July 31, 2015 a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish (900 H St.) Interment will follow at Historic Union Cemetery (730 Potomac Ave.)
