Barbara A. PRIDGEN

1930 - 2018

Barbara Ann Pridgen (nee MacKay) died on March 14, 2018, at 87 years of age. She was born in Lynn, MA on August 16, 1930. Barbara suffered a fall at her assisted living facility. Her cause of death was from complications following broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Barbara grew up in Lexington, MA and graduated from Lexington High School in 1948. Her parents were Muriel (Burns) MacKay and Albert Barker MacKay. Barbara became a registered nurse after attending the Mt. Auburn Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1951. Years later in 1978, she received her Bachelor's of Art degree from NE College. Barbara married Francis Ernest Pridgen of Richmond, VA in 1953. Ernie made a career in the United States Air Force. Together, they lived around the country in Alaska, Kansas, Colorado, Montana, Maine, and Massachusetts. After Ernie's discharge from USAF, they settled in Nashua, NH. There, Barbara worked as a med-surg Head Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital. Barbara and Ernie retired to York, PA. Ernie died in 2013 at 83 years old. In 2014, Barbara moved to assisted living at the Maryland Masonic Homes in Hunt Valley, MD to be closer to her daughter Carol Pridgen Saucier, and husband Peter Saucier of Cockeysville. An avid reader and lover of Bingo, Barbara also cherished her Scottish family heritage. In addition to Carol, Barbara is survived by another daughter, Sandra Lynn Muniz, and husband Alex Muniz of Maine. Barbara leaves five grandchildren and eight great granddaughters. Her sister Marjorie Shaughnessy lives in Hudson, NH. A brief service will be held at the Maryland Masonic Homes Chapel on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11 am, followed by burial at the Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
