Betty Himeles

Betty Jean Himeles (nee Applebaum), of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Friday, November 28th, 2025, at the age of 95 . She is survived by her loving children, Jackie (Roger) Norden, Martin (Paula) Himeles Jr. and Jeffrey (Pamela) Himeles; beloved grandchildren, Andrew (Pamela) Norden, Matthew (Maura) Norden, Kenneth (Viviana) Norden, Elizabeth Himeles (Jeffrey Taylor), Charlotte Himeles, Sara Himeles and Jacob (Jackie) Himeles; and cherished great grandchildren, Eli Norden, Sam Norden, Max Norden, Teddy Norden, Caroline Norden, Annie Norden, Ali Norden, Emi Norden, Ava Himeles and Max Himeles; and her cherished significant other, Leo Zindler. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Martin Himeles Sr.; caring siblings, Shirley Applebaum and Joseph Applebaum; and her dear parents, Jacob and Fannie Applebaum.

Betty grew up in Ridgely, Maryland, and moved to Baltimore during her high-school years. She went on to graduate from Goucher College and built a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Martin, to whom she was married for more than 50 years. A retired social worker, she dedicated her career to helping others with the same empathy and steadiness she brought to every part of her life. Deeply family-oriented, Betty adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the heart of her world. She was known for her honesty and her thoughtful way of speaking her mind, always with clarity and care. A generous and compassionate spirit, Betty was philanthropic throughout her life and a proud champion of the liberal causes she believed in.
