Sr. Clare Walsh MHSH

Clare Walsh Obituary

Sr. Clare Walsh went home to God on November 25, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 76 years old and had been a member of the Baltimore-based Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart Community since1967. Sr. Clare was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, answering God's call to serve by joining the Mission Helpers Community at age 18. Her early ministries in faith formation took her to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky before returning to Boston to serve at the New England Medical Center, where she was Director of Pastoral Care and later as co-leader of the Ethics Consultation Center. In 1999, she earned a master's Degree in Spiritual Direction from the Jesuit School of Theology and served for three years at the Center for Religious Development. She was then named Jesuit Provincial Assistant for Ignatian Spirituality and Associate Director of the Jesuit Collaborative. In recent years, she taught a practicum in spiritual direction at Boston College and directed retreats in the Ignatian tradition. Sr. Clare is survived by her brother, Jim Walsh, and sister-in-law, Jean Walsh, as well as her brother-in-law, David Fauvel and ten beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Clare.

A wake and funeral mass celebrating Sr. Clare's life was held at St. Joseph's Church in Wakefield, Massachusetts, on December 5. A memorial mass will be held in the Baltimore area at a future date. Donations in Sr. Clare's memory may be made to the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart, 16 Greenmeadow Drive, Suite. 301,Timonium, Maryland 21093.
