David Franzina Obituary

FRANZINA , David Carl DAVID CARL FRANZINA, 62, of Still Meadow Rd., Smithsburg, MD and formerly of St. Augustine Ln., Baltimore, MD passed away Thursday Jan. 27, 2011 in Smithsburg. Born Fe. 12, 1948 in Tocoma Park, MD he was the son of the late Loren W. and Mary M. (Heckman) Franzina. He was a graduate of Smithsburg High School class of 1967. He retired from Gypsum Dry Wall Company of Dundalk,MD; formerly Goldbond Dry wall Company and was formerly employed by Keystone Homes of Waynesboro, PA. He was a member of AARP. He is survived by his son Charles S. Shafer and wife Penny of Fort Carlson, CO; brother Thomas Franzina and wife Linda of Boonsboro, MD; sisters Cindy Smith and husband Dennis and Sharon Williams and companion Barney Barnhart all of Smithsburg; half sister Virginia Gail Byrd of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Britney Shafer, Tiffany Shafer, Kimberly Shafer and Isabel Shafer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held Tuesday Feb. 1, 2011 at 11 AM at J.L. Davis Funeral Home Smithsburg with Pastor Julie Brigham officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 - 9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in memory of David to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21742 or St. Paul's Lutheran Church 13156 Edgemont Rd. Smithsburg, MD 21783.
