Once again, Dennis was a gentle person and someone I knew from 1946 on . . . on and off!

Condolences to the families . . . went to school at PS 5 with Dennis for all of elementary school. We reconnected later in life . . . my wife and I attended his concerts at Meyerhof and Dennis and I met for minor league games . . . the Blue Hens in Wilmington. Best memory of Dennis: always came to pickup ball games at PS 5 wearing his NY Yankee uniform . . . with number 10 on the back . . . can still see it. Requiescat in pace . . .

I was Dennis' neighbor in Huguenot, Staten Island, NY from 1950 to 1955. He and I graduated from PS5 in 1953. I visited him in Baltimore in the early 2000s. He was a great timpanist as I heard him practicing many days and nights. I will miss him and my sympathies to Susan, Sheila, and his family

My condolences on Dennis' passing. I'll always remember a delightful conversation we had - I ran over from the violin section on break to tell him how beautiful he sounded, and we talked about how the timpani can be tricky because the pitch rises as the note decays. A kind man and immense musical presence.

My sincere condolences to Susan, Heather and the Kain family on the loss of Dennis. It was my honor to share the stage with this fine artist, mentor, friend and gentleman who touched with kindness all beings he encountered.

Dennia Kain was a fine timpanist, a fine
musician, a fine person. I always enjoyed
meeting with him and sharing our past
experiences.
