Donald Daneman Obituary

Donald "Don" Daneman died peacefully on November 30, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 88.

Born in Baltimore to Sylvia and Jacob Daneman, Don attended Forest Park High School and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. He later earned his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

A highly respected criminal defense attorney in Maryland for more than sixty years, Don was known for his humility, command of the law and the courtroom, and unwavering commitment to his clients. He was fondly referred to as "Mr. D" by many, including generations of young lawyers and law students he took pride in mentoring.

In 1969, Don met his future wife, Ingrid, at a Baltimore Bullets basketball game. They married nine months later and, over the next fifty-six years, built a life together with their family on their beloved farm in Carroll County.

He is survived by his wife, Ingrid; their daughter, Erika Slater (Josh), and grandsons Sam and Charlie; his children from a previous marriage, daughter Lisa Lutz (Jim), grandson Alex (Brittany), and great-grandchildren Parker and Tate; and son David Daneman (Donna), and granddaughters Samantha (Chris), Roxanne (Nick), Gabrielle (Thomas), and Sydney. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings.

In accordance with his wishes, funeral services will be private. Donations may be made in his memory to the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Donald Daneman was my fraternity brother in the Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was my mentor during my pledge time. He had a special gift to make us feel important. I offer my condolences to the Daneman family.
