Doris Barben Obituary
Doris was born on May 12, 1926 to Emma May Grimm and Charles Phillip Rehmeyer in Fawn Grove, PA. She grew up in Stewartstown, PA, where she graduated high school and had a lovely childhood. On August 31, 1946, she married the love of her life, Paul Howard Barben.
Doris and Paul moved to Churchville, MD, to make a home for themselves and their 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Doris lived a long and happy life on her corner in Churchville. She was a devoted 4-H mother, member of Churchville Presbyterian Church, and avid genealogist who volunteered for over 40 years at the Harford Historical Society. Doris was a homemaker and still found time to work for H&R Block in Aberdeen for 25 years. She was our living treasure.
Doris is survived by a brother Richard Rehmeyer and wife Joyce, daughters, Paula Carol and husband Gary Moore, Cynthia May and husband James Givans and Rebecca Ann and husband Jon Stout, and son Paul and wife Karen. Her 11 grandchildren are Brian Magness, Samantha (Magness) Blankenship, Tina (Moore) Glass, Aaron Moore, Jennifer (Bilchak) Blackstone, Carrie Bilchak, Erik Kanowitz, Rachel Stout, Derek Stout, Jacob Barben, and Joshua Barben, and her 16 great, grandchildren are Grace, Elinor, Emma, Benet, Aubrey, Theodore, Em, Benjamin, Caitlyn, Michael, Andrew, Brileigh, Brian, Aiden, Luke, and one to be born in April 2022.
Doris is predeceased by her brother Donald Rehmeyer, husband Paul Howard Barben, and daughters Pamela Susan Magness and Linda Sharon Bilchak.
Doris will be missed by many friends and loved ones. She touched many lives and made a difference in everyone's life.
Visitation will be held at Churchville Presbyterian Church, Churchville, Maryland on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 11 am-1 pm with a service to follow at 1 pm. Interment will take place in Harford Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contribution to the Historical Society of Harford County 143 N Main St, Bel Air, MD 21014.
