Duane Root Obituary
"Sid" was born, raised and worked on the family dairy farm for 18 years. He then went on to work for Bendix corporation for 21 years and a truck driver for 10 years. "Sid" went into the army from 1955-1958. He loved to go hunting and he did woodworking in his free time. He was a member of the Oddfellows and a member of the Senior Citizen Club of Stewartstown. Duane also loved to go to visit Native American Sites since he was part Cherokee.
Duane is survived by his children Randy D. Root, Eric J. Root and Virgil T. Root (Becky), 8 grandchildren Jessica, John, Tim, Kimberly, Diana, Eric, Virgil and Bryan, 9 great grandchildren, 2 siblings Gladys Tesh from Wisconsin and Fred Root from Rochester, NY. Duane is preceded in death by his first wife Pearl Root nee Baker) and second wife Marilyn Root nee Branham, daughter Denise Lafferty, 2 twin grandchildren and 2 siblings Steven and Beatrice.
A public viewing will be at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. (19 South Main St. Stewartstown, PA 17363) on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00AM at the funeral home
Committal service will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. (250 Chestnut Hill Rd, York, PA 17402).
Memorial Contributions can be made to VFW Post 7012 –123 W Main St, New Freedom, PA 17349.
