Aunt Betty was my great Aunt and I am happy that she passed quietly and peacefully in St. Agnes Hospital. I will miss her dearly. She has been a great inspiration in my life. Aunt Betty was a woman before her times--everyone knew her in the neighborhood and church community. She was very active in St. Jeromes Church, St. Peter the Apostle Church, and she also attended St. Martin's and St. Benedict's Church. Father Michael and Father Pascal were good friends and she loved them both.
Aunt Betty traveled throughout the United States when she was a young lady; i.e., she worked in New York City at the World's Fair; in Miami Beach, Florida, when it was the place to be. She also worked in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during the Summer months when movie stars used to frequent there. She also joined the carnival once and traveled with it.
She was a beautiful young woman with a lot of courage. Aunt Betty would take off by herself and she'd make friends wherever she would go. However, Aunt Betty always remembered her Church obligation no matter where she went or lived. For example, Aunt Betty shared that one time when she was working in NY City as a waitress, she and a group of friends attended midnight Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. She said St. Patrick's was one of the most beautiful churches she'd ever attended, and if I ever had the opportunity, I'd should visit it.
Aunt Betty was 90-years old and lived a full and happy life. I will always admire her strength, courage and wisdom. I am so happy I had the opportunity to share her memories and life.
May God bless her soul. May she rest in peace now and forever.
Love Always,
Terri
