Elsie Hauver Obituary

Elsie H. Hauver, formerly of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away in Hilton Head, South Carolina on

July 29, 2024. She was 92 years old. A service to celebrate both Elsie and her husband George of

55 years is being planned for the fall in Black Mountain, North Carolina.



Elsie was born in Greenville, North Carolina on April 9, 1932, but lived most of her childhood life in Sarasota,

Florida. After graduating from Sarasota High School, Elsie attended the University of Florida.

After two years Elsie transferred to the University of North Carolina, where she graduated with a

degree in education. With her degree in hand, Elsie began her teaching career as an Art teacher at

North Harford High School in Harford County, Maryland. Elsie stopped teaching to raise her two

sons, but the love of teaching drew her back. She found her true passion as a kindergarten teacher

at Dublin Elementary School in Harford County, Maryland and worked helping children in their

first year of education until she retired in 1986. In retirement, Elsie enjoyed spending time in Hilton

Head, South Carolina where she renewed her joy of art and played tennis.



Elsie is survived by her son Bill Hauver of Bel Air, Maryland her son Bob and his wife Lyndall of

Towson, Maryland, her two grandchildren Tommy Hauver of Baltimore, Maryland and Megan

Peace and her husband and Josh Peace of Atlanta, Georgia and her two great grandchildren. She is

preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Hauver and her grandchild Will Hauver.



In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Fraser Health Center at the Seabrook Retirement

Community at 300 Woodhaven Drive, Hilton Head, SC 29928.

Elsie was always so kind and always so appreciative of any help or service. Always had a beautiful sincere smile. A beautiful lady. Elsie I pray you rest in peace.
