Eugene was a great friend when I was a Social Work student at UMBC. We hung out a lot on campus and had lunch together. He often helped me with my math homework and even tried to teach me to swim at the college pool. When I think of Eugene, I can see that bright smile and hear his laugh and sharp wit. I wish I had stayed in touch. As I am older, I realize how rare it is to find a great friend. He was a true gem of a friend.

I worked closely with Eugene over the last few years. In recent weeks with his health declining, he taught me to take time to appreciate life. I will keep that thought and his memory alive in me forever. We will miss him each and every day.

I am shocked and saddened to see Eugene's name in the paper. We were friends nearly 20 years ago in a Jewish Youth Group. I can see by the postings that he had continued to be a source of warm friendship to those around him...just as I remember from our teenage years way back then.
May his memory be for a blessing and his neshamah be at peace.

Today, just now, I found out that my oldest friend has passed. I went to TA with Gene and also Pikesville and Milldale. I remember a couple years ago was the last time I saw him. We had lunch and it was great to catch up with him. While we didn't see each other often, our friendship never diminished! He was the only person who still called me by my hebrew name and that always made me smile. I know what a wondeful man he was! I am glad to be able to call him friend and I am only sorry I did not get to see him one more time.
Rest with Hashem my good man. I will always remember you!

Gene loved his family. He loved his friends. Gene made the world a better place with his smile, his jokes, and his generosity. He knew life might be short and strived to make the most of everyday he was given. Gene will be deeply missed.

I did not know Eugene very long but long enough to know that he was a wonderful person. He was always willing to help with IT issues and was very patient. He was also a gentleman. In his weakened and fragile state, he opened and held a door for me just a few weeks ago. I was trying to get it for him. May God Bless all of you and I pray that you find peace and comfort in your memories of Eugene.
