Father Cronin was all a priest and a caring friend could be. We are blessed by our long friendship at St. Ursula/St.Joseph and his wonderful visits to my Mom to the end of her passing in 2007. He was a true friend and man of God on earth . A giant has gone to heaven. We miss him dearly.

I knew Father Cronin when he came to St. Ursula's Church. Father married my husband and I in 1951 and bapitized my four children. He was a good friend to the entire Hubbard family. He was a wonderful person. May he rest in peace, my prayers are with his family.

Father Cronin, you were a wonderful friend to our family during a very difficult time. I will always remember how kind you were to my mother when she was really in trouble. You were a great person, with a kind spirit, a warm heart, and a wonderful priest. May you rest in peace.

Fr. Cronin was a very special person to the communities of Carney and Parkville. I’ve known Fr. Cronin since he arrived at St. Ursula’s in 1945. At that time I was a 5th grader. Yes, he did come into the classrooms often and entertain the students. Sometimes I wondered if the nuns were as pleased as the students. In the youth program, he so easily mixed the social with the religious developmental skills of one’s life. He was so helpful and understanding when both of my parents died in the “50s” Through his nurturing and guidance, he was an important role model in developing my faith. Fr. Cronin married us in 1972 and we always remained friends.
I saw Fr. Cronin right after Pope John Paul II was at the Cathedral in Baltimore. We expressed what a privilege it was to attend the prayer service. Fr. Cronin said in his Irish brogue, “ I’m sure that Pope John Paul II was elated to have met me.” So typical of his humor!
May Fr. Cronin rest in peace and may people remember his kindnesses, his humility, and love of the Lord and His Blessed Mother.

I have know Fr. Cronin all my life, and I will miss him. I also had the good fortune of being named after him. At the time he was at St. Lawrence Parish, therefore my middle name became the name of that parish. I just have to thank God he was at THAT parish at the time of my birth, or my middle name could have been Ursula, Joan, Bernardine, or Margaret. I will miss you, you were a great man. Thank you for your help. I am proud to say my name is:

Father Cronin - "Padre" as we called him. I was the first female altar assistant at St. Isaac's serving with Fr. Cronin. He presided over all our family celebrations. I even had him come to Minnesota for my wedding. His warm smile and kindness will be remembered forever. He will be missed.

Father Cronin was quite possibly the only saint I have ever known. He taught me about the world. Football games and tennis matches. He had a youthful spirit and ambition. I will miss him.

JJ - I will also remember you as one who knew how to be a priest - like Jesus himself. You shared with me what it meant to love and cherish others. I am a better priest because of you.

Whenever I think of Msgr. James Cronin, my vivid memories were during the years I attended St. Ursula's School. He would come in the classroom and cause all of us to laugh. He had a very good sense of humor.
He was loved by all and will certainly be missed by all the people that had the pleasure of meeting him.
Msgr. Cronin rest in peace with God Almighty.
As Bob Hope would always say, 'thanks for the memories'.

When we were in need Fr. Cronin was there for our family as I know he was for many others before and since. He truly touched our lives and although I have not been in touch with him now for several years his kindness and caring is still very fresh in my mind.
If ever I was sure of someone being with God, this is the someone.

I met Father Cronin at St. Ursula when I was married. He had been a friend to my wife and her family for many years. Not only did he perform our marriage celebration, but my in-laws as well (many years prior). He was always kind, gentle, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will certainly be missed.

Father "J.J." Cronin you touched so many lives with your blessings. The way you showed your care and attention to the youth of St. Joan's in supporting them was an inspiration to the youth as well as the adults. Thank you for your wonderful gift of humor, your smile, and your listening ear. And a special thanks for the wonderful memories of the trip to Ireland in 1998.
You will be truly missed by all.

Father Cronin married us, baptized our children and a few years ago married our oldest daughter and her husband. We were truly blessed to have such a wonderful priest at St. Isaac Jogues.
An Old Irish Blessing for a delightful Irish man:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

On behalf of my mother, Jane Kelly Mick, who was a lifelong friend of Monsignor James Cronin and who named me after his sister, Noel Marie Cronin, CSJ, I send condolences to his family and friends whom Fr. Cronin loved so deeply. I would also like to especially thank Fr. Kevin Scherring for enabling Fr. Cronin to visit us all in the Adirondacks in recent years. He will be greatly missed.

Father Cronin, as we called him, was a gentle spirit who always cared for those to whom he ministered. He must have met thousands of people during his ministry and truly gave his heart and soul to each of us who came to him. We will always smile when we think of him and remember him fondly in prayer. He was a devoted priest - God's humble servant. I will always remember his time with my Dad when he was dying. He brought consolation to our Dad to each of us. May he rest in the peace he so deserves.

and in particular the trips to visit "JJ's" family in Glens Falls. He will be missed by so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and friends.

I know you are in heaven Msgr Cronin. In 2000 you came to visit my terminally ill husband, Edwin Emich. You were so kind to both of us. So understanding, caring, compassionate and loving. You discussed with us the various parishes we had lived in during our lives and you had lots of connections to these parishes. If ever people needed loving guidance and a priest to comfort them, it was us. You were there for us. A few short days later, Edwin passed away. Our thanks will be always with you.

Many fond memories of father Cronin with the alter boys and picnics. Every time he shook one of the boys hands, he would squeeze it until you dropped to the floor. He was a great man and a great person who influenced many of the children at Saint Ursula in the 40's / 50's / 60's
