I just heard about this yesterday. I just saw Jim about two months ago and he was hanging in there. Probably one of the nicest people I ever met. I must have umpired hundreds of times with him. God Bless all those who befriended this kind person.

With my deepest regret. I also have lost Jim as a friend in baseball and fellow alumnus of Loyola High. I feel certain that he now enjoys umpiring with God's angels.

I'm really sorry about the passing of Jim. He was a great man. I have umpired for him for the past 5 years in RPBL, RBI and other leagues throughout Baltimore. My daughter was very sad to hear of his passing. She first met Jim several years back at Camden Yards where he gave her a baseball glove necklace. She still has it and always talks about how Mr. Jim gave it to her. Just this past Spring Jim attended a party for her First Communion where he met many of my friends and family. All of them were sad to hear of his passing. I will miss the late night phone calls asking if I am available tomorrow. But in general I will just miss talking to the man.

I knew Jim in my days as an Athletic Director and Baseball Coach. He was a gentleman and always respected for his knowledge of baseball rules and his professional demeanor on the field. My thoughts go out to his family. I know his brother Greg very well.

I was sorry to learn that Jim had passed away. My association with Jim began with my membership in the Mason-Dixon Umpire Association of which he was a member for many, many years. Jim was a mentor to many umpires who he came in contact with as well as a fine gentleman. I know he suffered greatly in recent years from medical problems associated with diabetes. May he suffer no more and rest in eternal peace.

I was sorry to hear that Jim has passed. I am an umpire and I came to know Jim through the Mason-Dixon Umpire Association. Jim for many years was a mentor to many and a nice gentleman. I know he suffered in his latter years with medical problems associated with diabetes. May he rest in eternal peace.

Tim and Greg, so sorry to hear about Jim. My brother Skid died on June 17, 2011, so I know how sad you are, and how much you will miss him. It is like a bad dream. I will pray for each of you.
